The business, grant rules and project below are fictional. The example explains the workflow; it is not an app screenshot or a funding recommendation. All figures use the same assumed tax basis.
1. Define the project
A small manufacturer wants to install production equipment. Its operations manager will coordinate installation. The team has identified a grant that, for this example, funds 50% of eligible expenditure, with a cap above $12,000. No other funding is assumed.
2. Check what the grant will fund
| Cost | Treatment | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Production equipment | Eligible | $20,000 |
| Installation | Eligible | $4,000 |
| Other project costs | Excluded | $6,000 |
| Total project | $30,000 |
Eligible expenditure is $24,000. The request is 50% × $24,000 = $12,000. The business must arrange $18,000: $12,000 toward eligible expenditure plus all $6,000 of excluded costs.
Before using those figures, the applicant must check tax treatment, the funding cap, minimum request, contribution conditions and whether each item is eligible under the actual guidelines.
3. Review a statement that needs support
A draft says: “We have obtained the property owner’s permission.” The supplied information does not establish that permission. The applicant should confirm the statement only if it is true, add supporting evidence, or remove it. If permission is required and still missing, the application needs more work.
4. Answer the question with known facts
For “Describe your capacity to deliver the project”, a grounded starting point is: “Our operations manager will coordinate installation and monitor the project budget.” The applicant still needs to supply the delivery dates, supplier arrangements and any other details the question asks for. Those facts should not be invented to fill the space.
5. Complete the final checks
- Confirm the business meets the location and timing rules.
- Resolve any uncertain expenditure items.
- Have the final supplier quote and required permissions ready.
- Explain the project outcomes and how they will be measured.
- Review every answer, attachment and declaration before submission.
6. If funding is awarded
Compare the signed agreement with the application before setting milestones. A changed award amount or reporting date must be reflected in the confirmed project terms. See how the award workspace supports delivery and reporting.
